Title: Hostsman 3.2.69 Beta5 & Auto-update Frequency
Description: Auto-update quests every 60 seconds

Hello,

I'm using HostsMan 3.2.69 Beta5, works just fine. My question concerns, as mentioned in topic title, the frequency of auto-update, which I've discovered to be every 60 seconds. Since I'm using all three default update sources, I've noticed every 60 seconds HostsMan querying : www.mvps.org, hosts-file.net, pgl.yoyo.org

Normal, but is 60 seconds not a too short cycle ? Every hour seems far enough to me.

Thanks

HostsMan 3.2.69 Beta5 is coded to check for updates every 24 hours, not every 60 seconds.

Well, here we have, with Auto-update enabled, a call for www.mvps.org, hosts-file.net, pgl.yoyo.org every 60 seconds, and with Auto-update disabled, no call for www.mvps.org, hosts-file.net, pgl.yoyo.org.

You see your code, I see in and out. Looks like we don't see the same thing, brother!

OK, I see where the problem is.

I'm guessing you are using a limited account. The ability of HostsMan to check for updates in limited accounts was introduced in 3.2, and it seems that I forgot to make HostsMan remember when was the last time it checked for updates under these accounts.

I'll try to release a new version as soon as possible.

Thanks for letting me know about this issue.

I'm not using a limited account, I have full Administrator privilege ...

While I was fixing the issue with limited accounts, I found another one. I noticed a few lines of code that were commented that shouldn't be. This was preventing the Auto-Update from saving update information after a check that didn't find new updates, and this is the bug you're experiencing.

EDIT: Version 3.2.70 Beta6 is now available here.

OK, rloureiro, I've just installed HostsMan 3.2.70 Beta6, marked all updates as not installed, updated HOSTS from sources. I've had 60 seconds afterwards one auto-update check, one only and then nothing : seems to work fine, I'll have to wait update time + 24 hrs to confirm overall.

Just one thing : I have administrator rights on the computer, but I run a certain number of programs with restricted rights, by using a little Microsoft prog called DropMyRights, which makes these programs (mainly browsers) run with restricted rights. But I run HostsMan without DropMyRights, on boot for both HostsMan and HostsServer, of course.

Thanks a lot for your software and for your fast and efficient response.

You're welcome.

Although I've never used DropMyRights, HostsServer should run just fine with it, since it doesn't have anything that requires admin privileges.
