If i use Hostman so i dont need to Add hostfile if i dont want becoz i think already thr 3-4 hostfile included and when i update hostman(manually or Auto)hostfile is updated too or i have to update hostfile?

Manual update is fine but until further notice please do not use Auto update.

I'm not sure I understand the question.
Are you asking if the HOSTS file is updated manually do you have to do an Auto update as well?

You will notice areas of the browser are blank or contain the site not found 404 page.
That is where HostsServer comes in. HostsServer will speed up browsing by acting as a local proxy so that the local system does not have to send a display request to the intended site.
You can choose to set up a message and icon or just a message or just an icon to be displayed by setting it up in its Preferences then Server then Image tabs.
I hope this is easy to understand.

Just a small correction to YoKenny's post. The usage of the Auto-Update is fine as long as the 24 hours intervals between checks that is hardcoded into the program is respected.
If you opt for manual updates, avoid checking for updates more than 2 times a day.

At this time HostMan does not automatically update.
It updates the HOSTS file only.

You can not change the update frequency.
Newer releases will check less frequently I believe but at this time they are only in beta form and will be released as soon as possible.

isohunt.com is a P2P site that hosts file sharing files that is a common way to distribute malware as it is a quick and inexpensive way to distribute infections around the Internet.

Thats the way I have them set up.
Its no problem with the questions as that is how one learns.

What operating system are you using?
I see that isohunt.com does have an entry in hpHosts HOSTS file so the site should be blocked.
Maybe you have not installed the HOSTS file in the correct location?

I chose to overwrite as this removes obsolete entries.

I only use hpHosts and MVPS HOSTS files because that's all I need.
The MVPS site documents the correct location for the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htmMalware has been known to modify the registry to prevent loading of a HOSTS file so I recommend running MBAM Quick scan.
So I would download MBAM then update it then run a Quick scan and let it remove what it detects and a reboot may be required to remove locked files:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpPost a MBAM log back here if it detects any infections.

If you're using the latest beta version, please, go to menu "Tools" > "Additional Information", click in "Copy Report to Clipboard" and paste it here.

That´s all info from Additional Information
rloureiro - September 2, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
From that info, I don't see anything wrong. I notice however that you're using Vista 64-bit.
Open Explorer, go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and check if the size of the hosts file corresponds to the size reported by HostsMan. If it doesn't, see if there's a hosts file in C:\Windows\Syswow64\drivers\etc\.
Sean12 - September 2, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
Yes
Hostman Additional informations Hostfile size
2099470 bytes
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
File Size:205026 KB/2099470 bytes
they r same size
Maybe this works perfectly but i just worried or littlebit curious why not blocked isohunt .Normally it should be blocked (but i know maybe i can add this hostfile to block) but when this already added thr thn why not blocked.........

Do you see any blocked sites in HostsServer Logs?
This is what I see because I have logging enabled plus it also logs the refer URL as well
Maybe the HOSTS file doesn't work in Vista 64-bit?
As Vista is such a new operating system then learning its idiosyncrasies will be a learning experience for most people.

Again Thanks a lot for all help..
EDIT:
Okey at last that site shows blocked now..thats mean this works.Great.
Just One more Question if this not bother u
If i wants Upgrade Hostman to Beta Version i need to Uninstall this one or what ??
Or what is your suggestion about Beta version

What I did was to go to HostsMan then Hosts then Check for Updates then select MVPS Hosts and hpHosts click on Mark all updates as not installed then select Overwrite current Hosts then Update then Close.
This way you will have the latest of both hpHosts and MVPS HOSTS file installed.
To install the beta release of HostsMan then I go to Add/Remove Programs and un-install HostsMan.
In the forum go to the HostsMan 3.2.68 Beta4 area and download the HostsMan 3.2.68 Beta4 (Installer) or HostsMan 3.2.68 Beta4 (Compressed Zip)
The zip is smaller to download but it has to be expanded to get the Installer application.
Run the Installer and make a backup of the HOSTS file if you like then set the options to the way you like them in both HostsMan and HostsServer.
I like Log Referrer ON because it shows where the site was blocked from.
I'm sure that rloureiro will offer other advice If my assumptions are incorrect or if he has additional suggestions.
