Looks to me like Box.net is requiring an account sign up and I do not wish to sign up for an account there.

You don't have to have an account to download from box.net.

Are you preventing the browser from sending the referer? Some websites require the presence of the referer to prevent direct linking.

Anyway, you can now download it from Majorgeeks or Softpedia.

Thanks, got it off Majorgeeks. My IE7 is clamped down pretty tight because of security; so yes, it is preventing sending the referer.
