Title: How To: Inclusion List
rloureiro - August 22, 2007 08:14 AM (GMT)
1. Add the host names you want to keep in hosts file to a text file. You can use any text editor or HostsMan Editor to create/edit the file.
2. Add a new update source (you only have to do this step once):
- Go to menu Hosts and select Manage Update Sources.
- Click on Add Source.
- Type a name for the source, click on the Browse icon and select the text file with the host names.
- Press OK and then Close.
Now, every time you use HostsMan to update hosts file, those host names will be added to hosts, if they're not already present.

I just started using HostsMan (v 3.2.69) and have created a file with IP addresses and URLs. When I just ran HostsMan, it showed that it read this file, but the contents of it are not in the resulting Hosts file; though yesterday they did appear.
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? Thanks very much.

Welcome wpr
Do you have any other program configured to update the hosts file, like Spybot?
wpr - October 10, 2008 10:54 PM (GMT)
No, no other programs update the Hosts file. As I indicated, on Wednesday after installing HostsMan, my file of URLs did get loaded to the file, but not yesterday, though the messages showed it to be included.

These values aren't right. With these values, hosts file is probably being bypassed.
Here's a guide to help you fix them:

I have this frame on a website I want blocked.
http://surf.to/banners/adframe.shtmlI added the full line of text above to my own MyHosts.txt file and updated the Hosts file using HostMan selecting to Merge and only checking the box to use only MyHosts after adding it.
I closed and re-opened the browser.
The number of Host Names didn't change and the that frame still loads.
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks.

The format is just like a HOSTS file entry.
It will only take surf.to not individual pages.

Thanks, I got it, it now blocks the ad.
But, whether I chose a message or an image (transparent or custom) to display, the top portion of the page (the adframe) still occupies that area of the page.
How do I get it so it removes the frame completely like Adblock Plus does in Firefox ?
I'd like to eventually uninstall Adblock Plus!
Thanks.
<edit> anyone?
